Romantic Curtis Arboretum Wedding

Love has a way of finding us in the most unexpected places, and for Megan and Diego, it all began with a swipe in the “right” direction. The couple described their love story as “a tale as old as time, at least for the 21st century” beginning in the middle of the pandemic. Their journey together led them to their beautiful and romantic Curtis Arboretum wedding, where they celebrated their love surrounded by nature’s beauty and their closest family and friends.

I love whenever I have the opportunity to photograph at Curtis Arboretum. This gorgeous Philadelphia wedding venue always has the best light for soft and romantic photography. The stunning grounds and surrounding gardens provide the perfect backdrop for capturing love stories like Megan and Diego’s.

Megan and Diego also made sure to include their cherished loved ones who had passed away. Megan honored her deceased grandmother by wrapping her bouquet in fabric from her grandmother’s dress, carrying a piece of her legacy down the aisle. In addition, they placed a photo of Megan’s mom at the cake table, ensuring that she was present during the joyous cake cutting moment. It was a touching gesture and a loving tribute to those loved ones who have passed on but remain with them.

Their romantic wedding incorporated light hues of pink and white. The bridesmaids wore dusty pink dresses, while soft, light colored flowers accented by greenery decorated the ceremony and reception spaces. They even had pink signature drinks in honor of their dog! Megan and Diego also surprised their guests with a delicious treat – an ice cream truck! The sweet treats brought smiles to everyone’s faces, creating a delightful and unforgettable evening.

Reflecting on their journey, Megan and Diego shared that their relationship began during a time of uncertainty and lockdowns. Their first date, accompanied by Diego’s dog, Mac, took place at Liberty State Park. Little did they know that this seemingly ordinary outing would become a place of great significance in their lives. Their connection was immediate, as if they had known each other for a lifetime. The pandemic allowed them to remove distractions and truly get to know one another on a deeper level. Their love continued to flourish as they embarked on adventures, exploring new restaurants, taking road trips, and building a life together. They experienced the joy of moving into their first apartment and welcoming their beloved pup, Moose, into their lives. Together, they navigated the highs and lows of life, leaning on one another.

Then, on the coldest, winter day in February 2022, amidst a snow squall, Diego brought Megan back to the spot of their first date at Liberty State Park and proposed. They knew from the early days that they were each other’s person. Since the moment Megan said “YES!” they have looked forward to this moment of celebrating their love with all the people closest to them. As the sun set on their wedding day, the air was filled with a sense of joy, love, and gratitude.
