Late October on the Jersey Shore might not be the first place that comes to mind for an engagement session. But let me tell you, Nick and Julia’s fall engagement in Spring Lake, NJ was nothing short of magical. The air was crisp, the light was golden, and the sunset over the ocean created the most romantic backdrop for their love story. Fall at the beach has its own kind of magic. This session was proof that it can be just as stunning as any summer session.
A Love Story Years in the Making
Nick and Julia’s story is one of those meant-to-be romances that feels straight out of a movie. They grew up in the same small town, just two houses apart. They even went to the same school from pre-k through eighth grade. But somehow, they never met! Their paths unknowingly crossed when they were five years old, sharing the same babysitter. One day, she brought Nick to Julia’s figure skating practice, which ended with Nick splitting his head open and Julia’s mom taking him to the ER. The funny thing? Their parents are the only ones who remember this early encounter!
Fast forward to their late 20s, when fate (and Hinge!) finally brought them together in New York City. Julia wasn’t even sure she wanted to go on the date after a string of less-than-stellar experiences, but her doorman gave her an unexpected pep talk: “This might be your last first date.” Skeptical but hopeful, Julia arrived at the bar just before Nick, and the moment he walked in, she knew…this was different. Hours flew by as they talked about everything: their small-town roots, their shared careers in cybersecurity, their love for food, and travel, and even the uncanny coincidence that their moms share the same name (one Kathy and one Cathy)!
After that first date, Julia texted her sister and sister-in-law, telling them she had met someone special. Even her doorman got an “I told you so” moment! Their love continued to grow, filled with cozy nights in, cooking together (Nick is the chef, and Julia handles the veggies), traveling, and most recently, raising their new puppy.
A Surprise Proposal on Nick’s Birthday
After months of teasing Nick about when he’d propose, Julia was caught completely off guard when he popped the question on HIS birthday! They were in their favorite town along the Hudson River, where they had planned to grab drinks before dinner. Taking the scenic route along the water, Nick dropped to one knee, with his cousin secretly capturing the moment. Overjoyed, they attempted to eat dinner but were too excited to focus. Later, their parents surprised them with cake and champagne at home, making the night even more special. It was intimate, thoughtful, and absolutely perfect.
Their Ryland Inn Wedding
When Julia walked into the Ryland Inn’s grand ballroom, with its towering windows and timeless elegance, she was completely sold. Their vision for the big day? A celebration filled with love, happiness, and classic romance, surrounded by their favorite people. I cannot wait to capture their wedding at the Ryland Inn! It’s going to be breathtaking. If their fall engagement in Spring Lake, NJ was any indication, their big day will be filled with beauty, warmth, and so much joy.
