I had the privilege of capturing Racquel and Michael’s light + airy Philadelphia engagement session near the Water Works area behind the Philadelphia Art Museum. This area of Philadelphia is brimming with natural beauty making it the perfect spot for their engagement photos.
In her inquiry to me, Racquel expressed her love for natural elements and her eagerness to embrace the outdoor nature of their chosen venue, Glen Foerd on the Delaware and incorporate into their engagement session. Glen Foerd is a stunning, waterfront wedding venue that provides a picturesque wedding backdrop. It is one of my favorite Philadelphia venues. Thankfully, the day of their engagement session was absolutely gorgeous, allowing us to capture light and airy images, surrounded by the natural setting! The sun bathed the Water Works area in a soft, golden light, creating a romantic and ethereal ambiance.
Throughout the session, Racquel and Michael’s genuine smiles and easy laughter filled the air. Their goals for the session were clear from the start – to have fun and to look natural and like themselves. They wanted to avoid stiffness and posed images. They embraced the freedom to be themselves, allowing their love and personalities to shine through every photograph with ease.
Their Love Story
It is easy to see that Racquel and Michael share a special connection, one that started back in May of 2018 when Racquel and Michael swiped right on a dating app. A few days later, they met for a drink at Goats Beard in Manayunk near Racquel’s neighborhood. It was there that Michael knew there was something special about Racquel when she ordered buffalo chicken nuggets for them to share, which happens to be his favorite food. From that moment on, their journey was filled with good times and a lot of laughter.
Fast forward four and a half years, to a beautiful fall night on October 28th, 2022. As the sun began to set, Michael chose one of their favorite spots in Fairmount Park, Belmont Plateau, to propose. Of course Racquel said yes! While their focus is on their upcoming wedding, I’m thrilled they still took time to capture this moment in their relationship. I know many couples feel like their wedding day will never get here and are so eager to finally marry their partner; however, this season of life is truly fleeting. I always encourage couples to pause and document this time as you will cherish these memories years down the road.
Racquel and Michael, I am so excited for you both as you prepare for the next chapter of your journey together as husband and wife. I know their fall wedding at Glen Foerd on the Delaware will be a day to remember!
